“Essential Skincare has a conscience. For us the ingredients that we use in our products really matter, but it is what we leave out of them that really makes the difference”
Having an organic, healthy lifestyle means little without an equally healthy beauty regime. This is because our skin is capable of absorbing over 60 percent of all it encounters, so when it comes to your skincare regime, there should be no secrets or mystery fragrance, no hidden preservatives, parabens or drops of synthetic chemicals. Unfortunately the global skincare industry, which lacks both integrity and regulation, doesn’t care what ‘baddies’ are allowed in the products we use, which means our health and planet are paying a high price in pursuit of beauty.
Learn to protect your skin from soaking up the bad stuff by trading the ‘toxic chemicals’ for ‘natural skincare solutions.’ The key to this is to get familiar with the ‘no-nos’ and, understand why these will NEVER be used in any of our products:
- No parabens – these are linked to hormonal imbalances.
- No silicones – these coat the skin, impeding its natural function and are not bio-degradable.
- No mineral oils – derived from petroleum, and have a tendency to block the skin.
- No synthetic fragrance or parfum – these are often the cause of dermatological reactions and contain strong hormone disrupting agents.
- No polyethylene glycol (PEG) – these contain harmful heavy metals such as lead, iron, cobalt, nickel, cadmium and arsenic, impurities that are linked to serious illnesses.
- No propylene glycol – derived from petroleum, this skin irritant has been shown to depress the central nervous system.
- No sulphated surfactants (SLS/SLES) – these are known to generate skin irritation.
- No Triethanolamine (TEA) – a known skin and eye irritant.
- Nodiethanolamine (DEA) – associated with known carcinogens.
- No Methylisothiazolinole (MI/MCI) – blamed for an “epidemic” of skin allergies such as eczema and contact dermatitis.
